WebP is an image format built for efficient web delivery. A still-image converter may extract only the first frame, so test a downloaded result when motion is important. Converting an animation to a normal JPG always gives one still image; that is a format limit, not a failed animation export.

WebP can keep alpha transparency in both the wider extended container and relevant image paths. It is valuable for soft anti-aliased logo edges that GIF cannot represent well. JPG has no ordinary alpha channel, so converting an alpha WebP to JPG composites transparent pixels over a background. Choose that background deliberately. WebP Problems With Clear Causes and Fixes
